Days of protests, looting and riots in South Africa may result in meals and medication shortages within the subsequent few weeks, President Cyril Ramaphosa stated on Monday.
Police stated the unrest had intensified after former President Jacob Zuma challenged his 15-month jail time period within the nation’s high courtroom.
The sporadic pro-Zuma protests that broke out when he handed himself over final week have escalated into looting and arson, primarily within the province of KwaZulu-Natal (KZN).
Officers stated 489 suspects within the two provinces had been arrested and all authorities companies had been mobilized.
