Gilad Erdan, Israel’s ambassador to Washington, mentioned he had raised the Ben & Jerry’s determination in a letter to 35 US governors whose states legislated towards boycotting Israel.

“Fast and decided motion should be taken to counter such discriminatory and antisemitic actions,” learn the letter, tweeted by the envoy, which likened the case to Airbnb’s 2018 announcement that it will delist settlement rental properties.

Airbnb reversed that call in 2019 following authorized challenges in the USA however mentioned it will donate income from bookings within the settlements to humanitarian causes.

Palestinians welcomed Ben & Jerry’s announcement. They need the West Financial institution, East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip for a future state. Israel deems all of Jerusalem its capital, a standing not recognised internationally. Gaza is managed by Hamas Islamists who refuse coexistence with Israel.

Orna Barbivai, Israel’s financial system minister, posted a video of herself throwing a bathtub of Ben & Jerry’s into the trash. Ayman Odeh, an opposition lawmaker from Israel’s Arab minority, tweeted a picture of him smiling as he dug into his personal tub.
