Addis Abeba — United States Commerce Consultant Katherine Tai met nearly with Ethiopia’s Senior Coverage Advisor and Chief Commerce Negotiator Mamo Mihretu on August 25, in line with the U.S. Division of State’s Bureau of World Public Affairs.
“Each leaders mentioned the historic financial relationship between america and Ethiopia, and potential for additional progress,” the Bureau stated in a dispatch.
Throughout the assembly, Ambassador Tai acknowledged the steps Ethiopia has made towards political and financial reform. “She raised the continued violations of internationally acknowledged human rights amid the continued battle and humanitarian disaster in northern Ethiopia, which might have an effect on Ethiopia’s future African Development and Alternative Act (AGOA) eligibility if unaddressed,” the dispatch reads.
Each Ambassador Tai and Chief Commerce Negotiator Mihretu “agreed on the significance of working collectively to maintain the financial partnership between america and Ethiopia.”
