Africa: Under Secretary Nuland’s Travel to South Africa, Botswana, Tanzania, and Niger

Underneath Secretary for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland will journey to South Africa, Botswana, Tanzania, and Niger from July 31 to August 6.

In South Africa, the Underneath Secretary will meet with senior South African officers and co-chair the Working Group on African and World Points to advance shared priorities. She’s going to welcome the USA’ donation of 5.66 million COVID-19 vaccine doses to South Africa, and meet with civil society and enterprise leaders.

In Botswana, the Underneath Secretary will meet with President Mokgweetsi Masisi to advance our partnership on democracy, the local weather disaster, financial prosperity, and safety in southern Africa.

In Tanzania, the Underneath Secretary will meet with President Samia Suluhu Hassan and maintain a roundtable with opposition leaders. Her discussions will concentrate on strengthening democracy, combatting COVID-19, and enhancing safety and prosperity.

In Niger, the Underneath Secretary will meet with President Mohamed Bazoum to debate methods to enhance safety within the Sahel, strengthen governance, and advance inclusive financial development.
